What is Lumecca IPL?
Lumecca intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy uses broad-spectrum light and photofacial technology to deliver three times more energy than traditional IPL treatments.
The powerful intense pulsed light allows the light to deeply penetrate the skin and target pigmented and vascular lesions/visible blood vessels, including hyperpigmentation, age spots, spider veins, sun damage, and rosacea, in only 30 minutes. Because of its intense power, most patients only need 1-2 treatments, instead of 4-6 sessions.
The pigment absorbs the light, which breaks it up to erase it from the skin. For vascular issues, the energy damages the vein and the body reabsorbs it, completely eliminating it altogether.
To ensure your comfort, the handheld device also includes a sapphire cooling tip.
But beyond treating vascular and pigmented lesions, because the energy from the device also increases collagen production, Lumecca IPL can also address visible signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles.

Meet the Team
Who is a candidate?
Most patients who are struggling with sun damage, pigmented lesions, age spots, spider veins, or melasma are typically ideal candidates for Lumecca IPL. It works on all skin types and skin tones, so almost everyone can benefit from this innovative treatment.
We also recommend you be in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and not have an active skin infection.
What to expect?
To start your Lumecca IPL, we will begin by cleansing the treatment area and applying a cooling conductive gel to the skin. From there, your provider will pass the IPL handpiece along the skin. At most, you will feel a snapping sensation like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Most patients tolerate it very well and treatment doesn’t take longer than 30 minutes, although it can depend on the size of the treatment area.
Aftercare
After your Lumecca treatment, you may notice some redness or tightness, but those side effects will dissipate relatively quickly. Over the next few days, any pigmented spots will likely darken but will eventually flake off.
To help achieve optimal results, you’ll want to avoid excess sun exposure, use a gentle moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated, and stay away from makeup for a few days. You’ll also want to avoid harsh skincare products until your skin is fully healed.
As for results, you can expect to see improvements within the first few days and see full results within two weeks.
