Neck lift in Brighton MI: What You Need to Know
A neck lift, clinically referred to as a lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure designed to address laxity, banding, and excess tissue along the neck and jawline. As skin loses elasticity over time, the neck is often one of the first areas to reflect those changes, leading to a softened jawline, visible vertical bands, or the appearance of fullness beneath the chin. A neck lift may help tighten the underlying muscles, remove or reposition excess tissue, and refine the contour between the jaw and neck for a smoother, more youthful appearance.
At TruForm Surgery in Brighton, the approach to neck lift surgery is rooted in precision and individuality. Dr. Eidson’s background in facial cosmetic surgery gives her a uniquely comprehensive understanding of facial anatomy, which informs her surgical technique at every stage. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, each patient’s plan is thoughtfully tailored to their anatomy, goals, and overall facial balance. Some patients may benefit from combining a neck lift with a facelift or complementary procedures like facial liposuction to achieve the most cohesive result. Results vary by individual, and your consultation will help clarify what is realistic for your unique situation.
Are You a Candidate for a Neck Lift?
Patients who may benefit most from a neck lift in Brighton, MI are generally in good overall health and have specific concerns about the appearance of the neck and jawline that have not responded to non-surgical options. Ideal candidates are typically non-smokers or willing to stop smoking well in advance of surgery, and they have realistic expectations about what the procedure may achieve.
You may be a good candidate if you experience one or more of the following:
- Visible skin laxity or looseness along the neck
- Prominent platysmal banding, sometimes described as vertical cords in the neck
- Excess fullness beneath the chin that creates a less defined jawline
- A softened or blurred transition between the jaw and neck
- Changes in neck contour that affect your overall facial appearance
- A desire for a more refreshed look that still feels like you

What to Expect at TruForm Surgery
Your journey begins with a thorough one-on-one consultation with Dr. Eidson, who takes the time to understand your concerns, review your medical history, and evaluate your facial anatomy. This conversation is unhurried and genuinely collaborative; the goal is for you to feel informed and comfortable before any decisions are made.
On the day of your procedure, most patients receive anesthesia for their comfort, and the surgery typically takes a few hours depending on the scope of treatment. Incisions are generally placed in discreet locations, such as behind the ears or beneath the chin, to minimize visible scarring. The underlying muscles and tissue are carefully addressed, and the skin is gently repositioned for a result that looks natural and balanced.
Recovery from a neck lift typically involves some swelling and bruising in the first one to two weeks. Most patients find they can return to light daily activities within ten to fourteen days, though strenuous exercise and certain activities are generally restricted for several weeks. Full results continue to develop over several months as swelling subsides. Individual results may vary, and Dr. Eidson’s team will provide detailed aftercare instructions to support your healing every step of the way. Patients traveling from Hamburg or Pinckney will also receive clear guidance on follow-up appointments to keep recovery on track.
