Losing a tooth can feel like losing a part of yourself. At Truform Surgery, we understand the importance of preserving your natural teeth whenever possible. That’s why we offer advanced bone grafting procedures as a powerful tool in saving teeth and avoiding extractions.
What is a Bone Graft?
A bone graft is a surgical procedure used to rebuild bone that has been lost due to injury, disease, or other factors. In the context of dental health, bone grafts are often used to restore bone volume in the jaw, providing a stable foundation for dental implants or supporting existing teeth.
Why Choose a Bone Graft?
There are numerous benefits to choosing a bone graft, including:
- Preservation of Natural Teeth: By rebuilding bone support, bone grafts can help save teeth that might otherwise need to be extracted.
- Improved Implant Success: Bone grafts create a solid base for dental implants, increasing their stability and long-term success.
- Prevention of Bone Loss: When a tooth is lost, the surrounding bone can begin to deteriorate. Bone grafts help prevent this bone loss, maintaining the natural structure of your jaw.
- Enhanced Aesthetics: Bone grafts can restore the natural contours of your jaw, improving the appearance of your smile and facial structure.

Customization and Recovery
We understand that every patient is different. That’s why we customize our bone graft procedures to meet your individual needs and goals. Our team will take the time to explain the procedure in detail, answer your questions, and ensure you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way.
Recovery from a bone graft typically involves some swelling and discomfort, which can be managed with pain medication. We will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions to promote healing and minimize complications. Following these instructions carefully is essential for a successful outcome.
Common Questions About Bone Grafts
Is a bone graft painful?
We use local anesthesia to numb the area during the procedure, so you should not feel any pain. After the procedure, you may experience some discomfort, which can be managed with pain medication.
How long does it take for a bone graft to heal?
The healing time varies depending on the individual and the extent of the graft. In general, it takes several months for the bone to fully integrate with the surrounding tissue.
Are there any risks associated with bone grafts?
As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks associated with bone grafts, such as infection, bleeding, and nerve damage. However, these complications are rare.
