Facial balance and contour play a major role in how we feel about our appearance. When the neck or jawline lacks definition, it can shift the overall harmony of the face. At TruForm Surgery in Brighton,MI, patients can choose between a neck lift and a face lift to achieve a smoother, more refined look that highlights their natural structure and symmetry.

Understanding the Neck Lift

A neck lift focuses on reshaping the neck and improving the transition from the jawline to the collarbone. It is an excellent option for addressing extra skin, excess fullness, or relaxed muscles beneath the chin. Instead of tightening just the surface, the procedure adjusts deeper layers to create a slimmer and more sculpted contour.

Incisions are carefully positioned behind the ears or under the chin, making them almost invisible once healed. The goal is a refreshed, elegant finish that maintains your natural appearance and expression.

What to Expect from a Neck Lift Recovery

Most people return to their regular activities within ten to fourteen days. Some swelling or tightness is normal initially but fades gradually during the next few weeks. The TruForm Surgery team provides detailed aftercare instructions to support healing and comfort throughout recovery.

Understanding the Face Lift

A face lift focuses on restoring definition through the cheeks, jawline, and lower face. Rather than “tightening” the skin, the underlying structures are gently repositioned to re-establish lift and balance. This approach results in smoother, firmer contours that still look entirely natural.

Many patients choose this option when seeking better proportion or a stronger lower-face profile. It can also enhance how the neck and chin relate to the rest of the face, producing a cohesive and harmonious result.

What to Expect from a Face Lift Recovery

Recovery usually takes about two to three weeks. Bruising tends to fade in the first ten days, while swelling continues to improve over several more. With careful follow-up and customized guidance, patients enjoy a comfortable recovery process and enjoy gradual, long-lasting improvement in definition and tone.

Choosing Between a Neck Lift and Face Lift

Deciding which surgery is right for you depends on your specific areas of concern. A Neck Lift provides the best solution when fullness or loose skin is concentrated under the chin or along the neck. A Face Lift is ideal if you also want to refine the jawline, mouth area, or lower cheeks.

For most individuals, combining both surgeries achieves the most balanced and natural outcome. During a private consultation at TruForm Surgery, Dr. Eidson will evaluate facial structure, skin quality, and aesthetic goals to recommend a plan tailored to your needs.
