Neck Lift in Genoa, MI

STATE OF THE ART FACILITY

If you are considering a neck lift in Genoa, MI, TruForm Surgery offers the personalized, expert surgical care that patients throughout Livingston County trust. A neck lift is a surgical procedure designed to address loose or sagging skin, excess fat, and diminished muscle definition along the neck and jawline, helping to restore a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Whether you have noticed changes after weight loss, as part of natural aging, or simply feel your neck no longer reflects how you feel inside, our team is here to listen and guide you.

Neck Lift in Genoa, MI: What You Need to Know

A neck lift, also known as a lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that may help reduce the appearance of sagging skin, horizontal neck bands, and submental fullness in the neck and lower face. At TruForm Surgery, just minutes from Genoa, MI, our surgeons approach each procedure with a genuine commitment to natural-looking outcomes that honor your individual anatomy rather than a one-size-fits-all technique.

During a neck lift procedure, your surgeon may address the platysma muscle, which is the thin muscle layer beneath the skin of the neck, and reposition underlying tissue to create a smoother, more defined contour. Excess skin may be carefully removed and remaining skin gently redraped. In some cases, the procedure may be combined with facial liposuction to address submental fat, or with a facelift for more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Brittany Eidson is a double-board-certified facial cosmetic surgeon whose training at the University of Michigan and residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center inform a meticulous, patient-first surgical approach. Individual results may vary, and outcomes depend on your unique anatomy, skin quality, and overall health. A thorough consultation helps ensure that every treatment plan is tailored specifically to you.

Are You a Candidate for a Neck Lift?

The right candidate for a neck lift in Genoa, MI is someone in good overall health who has realistic expectations and specific cosmetic concerns involving the neck and lower face. Research suggests that patients who experience the greatest satisfaction are those who seek to restore a rested, natural appearance rather than an entirely different look. Our team takes time to understand your goals before recommending any surgical approach.

You may be a good candidate if you experience one or more of the following:

  • Loose or sagging skin along the neck and jawline

  • Prominent vertical neck bands or platysmal laxity

  • Excess fat beneath the chin that has not responded to other approaches

  • Loss of neck contour following significant weight changes

  • Skin laxity that developed gradually over time

  • A desire for a more defined, refreshed neck profile

Non-surgical options such as facial fillers or microneedling may complement your results or serve as a starting point depending on your concerns. During your consultation, we will discuss all options openly and help you decide on the path that aligns with your goals and lifestyle.

What to Expect at TruForm Surgery

Your experience at TruForm Surgery begins with a one-on-one consultation where Dr. Eidson or a member of our surgical team will listen carefully to your concerns, review your medical history, and assess your neck and facial anatomy. This conversation is the foundation of your care, and there is never any pressure to move forward before you feel fully informed and comfortable.

If you decide to proceed, your surgical plan will be customized to your specific needs. Most neck lift procedures are performed under general anesthesia or monitored sedation and typically take two to four hours, though timing varies by individual case. Incisions are typically placed in discreet locations such as beneath the chin and behind the ears to minimize visible scarring.

Following surgery, most patients experience some swelling and bruising that gradually subsides over several weeks. Most patients are able to return to light daily activities within one to two weeks, though a full return to strenuous activity typically takes longer. Your care team will provide detailed post-operative instructions and check-ins to support your healing process throughout.

A common concern we hear from patients in the Genoa area is whether surgical recovery will significantly disrupt their daily lives. Our team works hard to set honest expectations and provide the support you need at every stage, from the first consultation through your follow-up appointments.

Frequently Asked Questions: Neck Lift in Genoa, MI

How is a neck lift different from a facelift?

A neck lift focuses specifically on the neck and lower jawline area, addressing sagging skin, neck banding, and excess fat below the chin. A facelift, by contrast, targets the mid and lower face more broadly. Some patients benefit from both procedures performed together. During your consultation at TruForm Surgery, your surgeon will help you understand which approach may best address your individual concerns.

How long does recovery from a neck lift typically take?

Most patients are able to resume light daily activities within one to two weeks following a neck lift, though swelling and some bruising may continue to improve over several weeks. Strenuous activity is typically restricted for a longer period. Your surgeon will provide a personalized recovery timeline based on your specific procedure and overall health. Following post-operative instructions carefully may help support a smoother healing process.

When can I expect to see results after my neck lift?

Many patients begin to notice improved contour as initial swelling subsides, typically within three to four weeks. More refined results continue to emerge over several months as tissues fully heal and settle. Research suggests that final outcomes may not be fully apparent for up to six months or longer after surgery. Individual results may vary based on skin type, age, and how closely post-operative care instructions are followed.

Is a neck lift right for me if I am concerned about looking unnatural?

This is one of the most common concerns we hear from patients considering a neck lift in Genoa, MI. At TruForm Surgery, the goal is never an overdone or obviously surgical result. Our surgical team focuses on restoring your natural contour and helping you look like a refreshed version of yourself.
