Blepharoplasty in Genoa, MI: What You Need to Know
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that addresses excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat around the upper and lower eyelids. For many patients from Genoa and the surrounding Livingston County communities, the eyes are one of the first areas where natural changes become noticeable over time. Upper eyelid surgery may help reduce the appearance of hooding or heaviness that can make the eyes appear smaller or more fatigued. Lower eyelid surgery may help address puffiness or loose skin beneath the eyes. In some cases, both upper and lower lids are addressed in a single procedure, depending on your individual anatomy and goals.
At TruForm Surgery, Dr. Brittany Eidson, brings a double-board-certified background in facial cosmetic and oral and maxillofacial surgery to every eyelid consultation. Her University of Michigan training and residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center have shaped a precise, patient-centered surgical philosophy. Rather than offering a one-size approach, she works with each patient to understand what refreshed, rested, and natural means to them personally. Individual results may vary, and your consultation will clarify what outcomes are realistic for your specific concerns. You can also explore our broader facial plastic surgery services, to see how blepharoplasty may complement other procedures.
Are You a Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty may be a good option for adults in Genoa, MI, who are in generally good health and have realistic expectations about what eyelid surgery can achieve. Candidates often share similar concerns: persistent upper lid heaviness that does not respond to non-surgical treatments, under-eye puffiness that appears regardless of rest, or skin laxity around the eyes that contributes to a fatigued appearance. It is important to note that blepharoplasty addresses structural changes around the eyelids and is not a substitute for treatments targeting skin texture or fine lines. A thorough consultation will help determine whether surgery, a non-surgical option such as Botox or dermal filler, or a combination approach is most appropriate for you.
Patients who tend to be well-suited for blepharoplasty often experience:
Excess or drooping upper eyelid skin that may partially obscure vision or create a heavy appearance
Persistent puffiness or bags beneath the eyes that do not resolve with lifestyle changes
Loose or crepey lower eyelid skin that contributes to a tired look
A desire for subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation rather than an overdone result
Overall good health with no active eye conditions that could complicate healing
What to Expect at TruForm Surgery
For patients traveling from Genoa to our Brighton practice, the process begins with a thorough one-on-one consultation. During this visit, Dr. Eidson will review your medical history, examine the anatomy of your eyelids and surrounding structures, and listen carefully to the concerns and goals that brought you in. This is a conversation, not a sales appointment, and you are encouraged to ask every question on your mind.
If blepharoplasty is determined to be the appropriate next step, your procedure will typically be performed in our state-of-the-art surgical facility using local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your individual case. Most patients go home the same day. Recovery timelines vary by individual, but most patients experience some bruising and swelling during the first one to two weeks. Strenuous activity is typically limited for several weeks following surgery, and your care team will provide detailed aftercare guidance tailored to your healing process.
A common concern among patients from Genoa and surrounding communities is whether results will look natural. At TruForm Surgery, the goal is always to help you look refreshed and rested, not altered. Our surgeons are known for their commitment to results that feel true to each patient. For patients interested in complementing surgical results, treatments such as laser skin resurfacing may be discussed as part of a longer-term care plan.

Frequently Asked Questions About Blepharoplasty in Genoa, MI
Where is TruForm Surgery located relative to Genoa?
TruForm Surgery is located in Brighton, MI, approximately four miles from Genoa Township. The practice serves patients throughout the greater Livingston County area, including communities such as Howell, Hamburg Township, and Green Oak Township. Patients from Genoa typically find the drive straightforward, and our team is happy to provide specific directions or answer any logistical questions when you call to schedule an appointment.
How do I know if I am a good candidate for blepharoplasty?
Candidacy for blepharoplasty is determined during a personal consultation with your surgeon. Generally, good candidates are adults in overall good health who have realistic expectations and specific concerns, such as eyelid hooding, under-eye puffiness, or loose lower-lid skin. Certain eye conditions or health factors may affect candidacy. Dr. Eidson will review your full health history and anatomy before making any surgical recommendations. Individual results may vary.
How long does recovery from eyelid surgery typically take?
Most patients experience visible bruising and swelling for approximately one to two weeks following blepharoplasty. Many patients feel comfortable returning to light daily activities within that timeframe, though strenuous exercise and activities are typically restricted for several weeks. Final results continue to refine over several months as tissues settle. Your care team will provide personalized recovery instructions, and follow-up appointments are included as part of your care at TruForm Surgery.
When will I see results from blepharoplasty?
Initial improvements are often visible once post-operative swelling and bruising begin to subside, typically within the first few weeks. However, final results from blepharoplasty generally become more apparent over three to six months as residual swelling resolves and tissues fully heal. Results are long-lasting for most patients, though they do not halt the natural aging process. Individual results vary, and your surgeon will discuss realistic outcome expectations during your consultation.
Can blepharoplasty be combined with other procedures?
Yes, blepharoplasty is frequently combined with complementary procedures such as a brow lift or facelift surgery for patients whose goals extend beyond the eyelid area. Non-surgical options such as facial fillers or laser resurfacing may also complement surgical results. During your consultation, Dr. Eidson will discuss whether a combined approach may be appropriate based on your anatomy, goals, and overall health. All recommendations are personalized to the individual patient.
