What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a type of dermal filler that has been approved by the FDA for professional use. This procedure is minimally invasive and requires very little effort on the side of the patient. This procedure takes little time to complete, and it’s also one of the most convenient options available. In fact, many of our patients fit this procedure into the middle of their days!
Sculptra uses a type of acid–poly-L-lactic acid–to help the body create more collagen, which can help the skin be more plump and vibrant, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It also has long-term benefits because of its ability to keep encouraging the body to produce collagen, even after the initial treatment.

Because of its convenience and simple nature, a Sculptra procedure is a good option for many people, but not everyone. It’s most ideal for people looking to address skin concerns, especially wrinkles or other irregularities. We’ll talk to you about your goals and medical history to make sure that Sculptra is a good fit for you. Ideal candidates have collaborative personalities so we can cater the treatment to your unique needs.
What to Expect During a Sculptra Procedure
Before the day of the procedure, we’ll give you the run-down on everything you need to know in terms of preparation. We’ll likely ask you to stop taking certain medications, especially anti-inflammatories, that might complicate the process.
Before starting the procedure, we’ll make sure that the area is completely clean and sanitized. Next, we’ll give you a cream to make sure that you’re properly numbed. You shouldn’t experience any significant discomfort. Then, using a very thin needle, we’ll inject the Sculptra filler. We’ll likely massage the area as we go to make sure that it’s distributed evenly. Your desired goals and anatomy will affect how many injections we give you, but it rarely takes more than an hour.

One of the most incredible benefits of Sculptra is that the results can last for years. However, it isn’t permanent, so follow-up procedures might be needed. You’ll likely need to avoid exercising for a couple of days to make sure that the area doesn’t swell. We’ll give you a thorough plan for how to take care of the area, and full results can usually be enjoyed within a month.
